4EU+ online workshop: Boosting traineeship mobility

8 October 2024

Attendance: 26 non-academic staff from seven 4EU+ institutions

On 8 October 2024, the 4EU+ Alliance hosted an online workshop focused on enhancing traineeship mobility for Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral candidates across its member institutions. With 26 non-academic staff members involved in traineeship management from seven 4EU+ institutions in attendance, the workshop aimed to explore effective strategies for promoting and facilitating Erasmus+ traineeships.

Workshop overview

The session began with presentations outlining the traineeship management processes at each participating institution, with a particular emphasis on the Erasmus+ traineeship programme. Attendees engaged in discussions about the current challenges and opportunities related to traineeships, ultimately identifying key issues that require further attention.

Key issues identified

  1. Promotion of Erasmus+ Traineeships to students:

One of the primary concerns raised was how to effectively promote Erasmus+ traineeships to students. Participants discussed various strategies to raise awareness and increase student participation in these valuable opportunities.

  2. Informing academics about hosting trainees:

The workshop highlighted the need to better inform academic staff about the possibilities and benefits of hosting trainees. Ensuring that faculty members are aware of these opportunities is crucial for fostering a supportive environment for traineeship programmes.

  3. Channeling traineeship flows to 4EU+ institutions:

Participants explored ways to streamline and channel traineeship flows specifically to 4EU+ institutions. This involved discussing potential partnerships and collaborations that could facilitate smoother transitions for students seeking placements.

  4. Involving 4EU+ Associated Partners:

Another critical discussion point was how to engage 4EU+ Associated Partners in the traineeship process. The involvement of these partners can enrich the traineeship experience and provide additional resources and opportunities for students.

Looking ahead

The insights gained from this workshop will guide future initiatives aimed at boosting traineeship mobility within the 4EU+ Alliance. By addressing the identified issues and fostering collaboration among institutions, the Alliance aims to create a more robust framework for traineeships that benefits all stakeholders involved.

This workshop marks a significant step forward in enhancing the educational experiences of students within the 4EU+ framework and ensuring that they have access to meaningful traineeship opportunities. The commitment to continuous improvement and collaboration among member institutions is essential for achieving these goals.
