Tackling obstacles for seemless mobility

Navigating student and staff mobility within the 4EU+ Alliance presents various challenges, from bureaucratic and financial barriers to curriculum differences and accommodation issues. In the framework of the 1CORE project, the 4EU+ Working Group Mobility has explored these obstacles to create a more cohesive and accessible mobility experience for all. Below are the obstacles identified.

Administrative obstacles

Administrative complexity within the 4EU+ Alliance includes challenges with diverse application procedures, documentation requirements, and support services, which hinder seamless mobility for students and staff.

Financial challenges

Funding disparities within the 4EU+ Alliance include challenges related to relying on Erasmus+ funding, securing adequate budgets, optimizing fund use, establishing information-sharing channels, setting clear guidelines for complementary funding, and ensuring equitable resource access across member universities.

Recognition of qualifications and curricula comparison

Academic recognition within the 4EU+ Alliance involves aligning course structures, content, and assessment methods across member universities. It also includes ensuring transparent credit recognition and establishing clear guidelines for diploma recognition.

Health, well-being, and affiliation

The challenge is the lack of motivation among students and staff due to a perceived lack of belonging to the alliance. Despite initiatives like pre-departure orientation, support for student organizations, and promoting inclusivity, many do not feel adequately informed or integrated into the 4EU+ community and activities.

Infrastructure and accessibility

Accessibility within the 4EU+ Alliance faces challenges like limited accommodation, high costs, and logistical barriers. Solutions are needed to create inclusive environments for students and staff with disabilities in all aspects of mobility and academic life.

In the upcoming months, the WG Mobility will collaborate with various stakeholders, including students and academic staff, to develop solutions and recommendations for these challenges.

Together, we can create a more inclusive and seamless experience within the 4EU+ Alliance. Stay tuned for updates!
