The "AI Integration in Historical Research" project aims to explore the use of artificial inteligence in historical writing by bringing together Digital Humanities scholars and experts. Targeted primarily at doctoral candidates, the initiative will focus on the benefits and challenges of employing AI tools in research and dissertation writing. A two-day workshop at Heidelberg University will feature experts from 4EU+ universities, covering topics such as AI transcription tools, digitization of archival materials, and practical applications of technologies like ChatGPT.

This workshop is designed for graduate and doctoral students already using or planning to use AI tools in their historical research. It aims to foster collaborative efforts, highlight the potential and limitations of various digital tools, and encourage the exchange of knowledge on AI's role in Digital History. Additionally, the project will develop a continuously updated digital "handbook" to provide a comprehensive overview of AI applications in history, serving as a dynamic forum for discussing ongoing projects and challenges in applying AI within historical research.
