Call for Participation: Challenges, Opportunities, and Questions with AI in History (3-4 September)

Organized within a Charles University 4EU+ student mini-grant, this workshop aims to explore the application of AI in historical research. Hosted by the History Department of Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg in Germany, this event will bring together graduate students and experts in Digital Humanities to discuss the integration of AI in historical research and writing.

The workshop will delve into the advantages, complexities, challenges, and boundaries associated with employing AI-based tools in historical research. Through discussions and presentations, participants will share insights, challenges, and potential solutions.

A digital “handbook” will be developed as a lasting outcome of the workshop. This resource will provide a comprehensive overview of ongoing projects, tools, and methodologies of AI in history, serving as a forum for addressing challenges and fostering ongoing discussions.

How to apply

Advanced Master's students, PhD candidates, and graduates working with or interested in AI and digital tools in historical research are encouraged to apply for participation in the workshop.

Funding

With the support of the student mini-grant, all workshop provisions and common dinners will be covered. Participants from 4EU+ universities will be eligible to apply for partial coverage of their travel expenses.
