4EU+ Visiting Professorships

Aneta Ostaszewska

The project entitled "Women's and Human Rights in the Context of Global Crises" will center around interdisciplinary research seminars to discuss and analyze the current social and political challenges faced by women and minorities in the context of global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, economic turmoil, and migration/refugee crises. The aim is to gather, organize, and disseminate the results of current studies, reflecting on the state of the art internationally, including at 4EU+ Alliance universities. Based on these seminars, a joint publication will be prepared in 2024.

Navigating international academic life

Aneta Ostaszewska on her experience with the VP programme

What has the VP programme given you?

The VP programme is a unique and multi-faceted experience. To be clear, there are a lot of challenges. For me, the VP programme was a chance to immerse myself in the academic everyday life of another university from the perspective of an outsider. This insight was valuable because I had the opportunity to verify many views and stereotypes regarding international cooperation, which requires the involvement of many people, efficient communication, and infrastructure. For me, the VP programme was primarily an opportunity to focus on my research interests (women's and human rights) within a network of new international contacts. I think I found a new meaning in my work as a feminist researcher from Poland.

Why would you recommend applying to the VP programme?

The 4EU+ Alliance is made up of different universities in the fields of education, administration, and cultural work. Learning about these differences first-hand can be interesting and inspiring, especially when it comes to direct cooperation with specific people and on specific topics. I certainly gained a new perspective on international cooperation.
