Network of Bioinformatics Master Programs

A hybrid deep learning experience

The 4EU+Network of Bioinformatics Master Programs was established at the very beginning of the 4EU+ Alliance. Starting as Meet-EU, a research-based bioinformatics training course, the network has also become a platform for exchanging information about summer schools organized by network members, joint seminars, and new opportunities for exchanges between research laboratories.

In recent years, the new format Deep Learning in Life Sciences (DeepLife) has emerged. After two successful editions under the 4EU+ SEED funding scheme, it continues as a Blended Intensive Program (BIP). The course gives an insight into the very active field of deep learning in biomedicine and highlights recent examples of applications in single-cell genomics, protein bioinformatics, and biomedical image analysis. Each year, students gather at Heidelberg University for a hackathon after completing the online component of the course.
