Bachelor in Mathematics Student Task (BMST)

We group bachelor students in mathematics from all 4EU+ universities to work on joint projects. Each group of students consists of one student from each university and has a mentor at one of the universities. The mentors offer a project topic (a task) in mathematics, and the groups work intensively for eight weeks to produce a report and sometimes help create wiki pages or program relevant codes. For the final week, the students travel to the mentor’s university for an in-person workshop and present the results of their work.

This project brings together students from different member universities at an early stage of their academic careers to work independently, albeit with supervising instructors, and in an international team. They work on topics and methods beyond the course offer at their home university while getting credit in their own study programs. The mentors also form a network of collaboration and meet to exchange best practices in teaching.
