Giuliano Zanchetta: Binding Landscapes at the Origins Of biomolecular Machinery / BLOOM

Project description

The BLOOM project - Binding Landscapes at the Origins Of biomolecular Machinery investigates the emergence of ribosomal function from molecular systems through the lens of nucleic acid–protein interactions, combining approaches from biophysics and synthetic biochemistry. Through joint experiments, a research seminar, student mentoring and a workshop, it will consolidate and expand a fruitful network of collaborations about prebiotic studies. Moreover, it will help to understand phase separation of nucleic acids and proteins in cell biology systems, and to tune the design of biomaterials and vectors for gene delivery.

Giuliano Zanchetta

"The research visit, rooted in a collaboration between Milano and Prague which was literally kickstarted by 4EU+, will allow me to contribute my biophysics expertise and at the same time to learn new experimental approaches in a lab at the frontiers of synthetic biology. I look forward to discussing with colleagues and students, working in the lab and exploring further possibilities.

Moreover, I will share our good teaching practices, like Team-Based Learning and the newly developed Virtual Reality modules for biomedical education."
