University of Warsaw launches 4EU+ Eternity project to strengthen Alliance initiatives

The University of Warsaw has received more than PLN 1.5 million in funding to implement the 4EU+ Eternity project as part of the NAWA Support for European Universities programme. The project’s main objective is to strengthen the initiatives already undertaken by the 4EU+ Alliance.

4EU+ Eternity aims to develop instructions and training materials for the opening of joint degree programmes, support the academic community in the design and implementation of joint innovative educational programmes, support the construction of the 4EU+ virtual campus and other elements of the common digital infrastructure, and promote citizen and open science.

“The 4EU+ Eternity project will contribute to the mission of the 4EU+ Alliance in creating a comprehensive educational offer and supporting research innovation. In keeping with its name, it aims to ensure a stable continuation of activities started by the Alliance in other projects and, through complementary initiatives, to strengthen strategic activities,” says prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, Rector of the University of Warsaw.

The proposed tasks create synergies with the efforts already underway to build One Comprehensive Research European University and respond to the needs of the 4EU+ member universities.

Among the planned project activities are:

  1. Organisation of 2 on-site workshops on Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) and Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) projects (in 2025 and 2026, Spring, in Warsaw)

  2. Integration of IT systems and development of a joint inter-university campus in the 4EU+ Alliance - 2 staff weeks for IT teams and other groups

  3. European Degree: next steps and preparation for the implementation of the European degree - establishment of an expert group in the 4EU+ Alliance

  4. Activities in support of open and citizen science in the 4EU+ Alliance (i.e. organization of a conference)

The exact amount of funding received by the 4EU+ Eternity project is 1,597,770 PLN. The source of funding, coming from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and its programme Support for European Universities (“Wsparcie Uniwersytetów Europejskich”) is the European Fund for Social Development 2021-2027 (FERS). The project will last two years (1 October 2024 - 30 September 2026) and will be coordinated by the UW 4EU+ Alliance Local Office and the Office for International Cooperation.
