The 4EU+ Alliance is pleased to announce the funding of its first strategic project “Swealth”: Surveillance of wastewater for public health. This initiative, involving all eight 4EU+ member universities, addresses major health issues through the study of wastewater.
In alignment with the strategic goals of the Alliance, the project Swealth draws on the complementary expertise of the 4EU+ member universities to build a research consortium dedicated to developing innovative epidemiological tools to monitor the health of the populations.
This structuring project will enable each institution to map its strengths in Global Health/ One Health, two priority themes for the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as the European Union.
Most importantly, this project will get the support of WHO/EU to organize an international meeting in Paris in 2024, aiming to emphasize the contribution of wastewater-based epidemiology to public health monitoring, with a particular focus on its added value in assisting public decision-making.
More information on this event will be shared soon.
