Acid-base enthusiats met in Prague

The Summer School of Clinical Acid-Base and Homeostasis was organised by the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in cooperation with University of Milano and University of Copenhagen under the 4EU+ framework. It consisted of 4 days of lectures and practical workshops all of which took place in the historical building of Carolinum in the centre of Prague.

The audience included trainees as well as fully qualified medical doctors but also other healthcare professionals and medical students. All 50 participants from more than 10 countries together took a deep dive into acid-base physiology lectured and supervised by a team that included some of Europe‘s most prominent experts. The overarching objective of gaining confidence in reading and interpreting blood gas analysis was achieved according to most participants who all showed a great portion of enthusiasm for the topic.

The course directors František Duška, Thomas Langer and Morten Bestle each representing one of the allied universities were delighted to announce on the last day of the course that negotiations had already started to organise a succeeding event next year in Copenhagen. We hope that a new long-lasting tradition has been established.
