As part of the 1CORE project, the 4EU+ Alliance has developed a common framework to better understand, organise and expand its joint educational offer. The main objective of Milestone 9 – New Components Defined, produced within 1CORE Work Package 3, was to map existing and planned joint educational activities across the Alliance and identify successful initiatives that could serve as models for future cooperation.
The work provides a foundation for creating a more coherent 4EU+ educational environment in which students can access flexible, personalised and international learning opportunities across member universities. In particular, it:
catalogues joint educational activities offered across 4EU+, including joint and shared courses, joint study programmes and mobility opportunities;
supports the development of flexible learning pathways, allowing students to combine different courses, disciplines and learning formats according to their academic interests and needs;
identifies successful joint activities and case studies that can inspire new initiatives and longer-term educational cooperation;
connects education across the four 4EU+ Flagships, covering areas such as health, European citizenship, multilingualism, artificial intelligence, mathematical modelling, biodiversity and environmental sciences;
explores how joint activities can be integrated sustainably into university curricula, with appropriate recognition, ECTS allocation and institutional support;
prepares the ground for a systematic and regularly updated overview of the Alliance’s educational offer, supporting future analysis, planning and evidence-based decision-making.
Through 1CORE, this work contributes to the Alliance’s broader ambition of moving from individual collaborative projects towards a sustainable educational ecosystem in which students can shape their learning journey across disciplines, institutions and national borders.
