The "Working with wartime testimonies: practical workshop in digital humanities" project focuses on using digital tools to analyze and preserve survivor testimonies from conflicts such as the Holocaust, the Yugoslav Wars, and the ongoing war in Ukraine. This workshop equips MA and PhD students with necessary methodologies to engage with these narratives through practical exercises, keynote lectures, panel discussions, and student presentations.
Attendees will explore digital archives, focusing on ethical considerations crucial in handling sensitive materials, including issues of trauma, consent, and privacy. The workshop aims to develop strategies for ethically collecting, preserving, and disseminating testimonies while respecting the dignity of the individuals involved. By the end of the project, participants will be well-equipped to use digital humanities tools to study war testimonies, contributing to the preservation and understanding of these impactful historical records.
