The "Summer School of Practical Ophthalmology" project is designed to enhance the training of final-year medical students beyond the standard two-week study block commonly offered at European universities. This initiative addresses the need for intensive practical training and advanced theoretical knowledge essential for aspiring ophthalmologists.
Set over a structured programme of practical workshops, interactive seminars, and scientific lectures, the school focuses on essential clinical skills such as pig eye surgery, foreign body removal, and corneal suturing, alongside seminars on clinical decision-making and the application of AI in ophthalmology. The curriculum is enriched with keynote lectures from leading experts and innovative ophthalmic start-ups, highlighting the latest research and technological developments in AI and genetics as they apply to ophthalmology. Primarily targeting students from 4EU+ universities, the project seeks to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic science and prepare participants for future challenges and opportunities in the field.
Registration is open until 9 June 2024.
