Within the framework of the 4EU+ European University Alliance, Sorbonne University launches its 2026 call for cotutelle doctoral projects, offering four fully funded PhD positions (36 months) jointly supervised with a partner university of the Alliance.
This call supports high-quality, internationally co-supervised doctoral research projects, bringing together complementary expertise, infrastructures and research environments across Europe. It provides doctoral candidates with a unique opportunity to pursue their PhD in two leading European institutions, while strengthening long-term research collaborations between supervisors and laboratories.
Each funded cotutelle includes:
A full doctoral contract funded by Sorbonne University;
A mandatory, one-year research mobility at the co-supervisor’s 4EU+ partner institution;
A dedicated mobility supplement to support the stay abroad;
Dual supervision and, upon successful completion of the thesis, the award of two doctoral diplomas, one from Sorbonne University and one from the partner 4EU+ university.

Flagship 2 : Multilingualism, pluralities, citizenship
Flagship 3 : Digitisation - Modelling - Transformation
Flagship 4 : Environmental Transitions
are particularly encouraged, while the call remains open to all disciplines demonstrating strong scientific added value through international collaboration.
Submission deadline for project proposals: 20 February 2026.
Applications are submitted by PhD Directors in partnership with a co-supervisor from a 4EU+ university.
