Call for papers : “FLEurope: Linguistic, literary and cultural bridges in teaching of French as a foreign language in Europe”

The journal AUC Philologica, an open-access academic publication by the Faculty of Arts at Charles University, invites submissions for a French-language thematic issue. As part of the 4EU+ Alliance project, it focuses on the didactics of teaching French as a foreign language (FLE) within the context of European cooperation.

Among the main research themes and questions addressed in this issue are:

  1. The study of the impact of FLE teaching on European integration and intercultural education;

  2. New approaches in FLE teaching that motivate students and foster their engagement in a multilingual environment;

  3. The integration of literary and cultural content in FLE teaching in order to promote cultural understanding and critical thinking;

  4. The use of new technologies to support effective teaching in French;

  5. The influence of social and cultural changes in Europe on the development of French vocabulary and its use in teaching;

  6. The didactic challenges and opportunities related to the integration of diatopic and diastratic variations of French into educational programs;

  7. The development of French in response to English as a global lingua franca and the impact of lexical borrowings on linguistic purism;

  8. The lexical elements necessary for effective communication in academic and professional contexts and their integration into FLE curricula.

This thematic issue aims to connect research in linguistics, literature, cultural studies, and didactics, fostering a platform to apply theory and empirical research in teaching French at secondary and university levels. It encourages collaborative reflection among 4EU+ Alliance researchers and international partners to modernize university curricula, addressing outdated approaches in philological and pedagogical studies across European institutions.
