Charting the course towards a new legal framework for smart cities (11 October)

11 October 2024, 10:00; Faculty of Law, nám. Curieových 901/7, Prague (room 117) + online

The Department of Administrative Law of Charles University is organizing the second roundtable this autumn in the "Lectures in modern administrative law" series. While in 2023, the focus was on regulatory sendboxes, this October will address the issue of smart cities. Among the speakers are colleagues from Barcelona, Milan, Geneva, and Lund. The roundtable will open with a presentation of the work of the Venice Group on Smart Cities and Digital Governance, which has been intensely involved with the topic for several years.

The first session of the roundtable will be dedicated to cross-cutting themes (the use of AI in urban planning, energy communities for smart cities, liability for the operation of automated public transport). The second session will focus on presenting specific aspects of smart cities in Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. The event is intended not only for lawyers but also for those working in the fields of urbanism, spatial planning, modern transportation, and e-Government.

The roundtable is held within a Charles University academic mini-grant.

The event will be open for online participation. You can join the meeting via this link (access code: jwMq3R).
