The Summer School “Eastern Europe from the Post-Socialist Perspective: Changes and Challenges” will be held on August 24-28, 2020 at Charles University in Prague.
Invited scholars from the University of Milan, University of Warsaw, University of Heidelberg, and Charles University will deliver theoretical lectures followed by methodological seminars and workshops.
Prague Summer School 2020 is primarily aimed at bringing together students and young researchers from all universities affiliated with the 4EU+Alliance. The project has a strong interdisciplinary agenda and presents a platform for collaboration in research fields such as contemporary history, political science and cultural, linguistic and regional studies.
The main aim is creating, specifying and implementing new interdisciplinary approaches and interdisciplinary methodologies of teaching and research of Eastern Europe, which could later be applied at partner universities.
The main research areas are:
Post-Soviet (-socialist) transformations, transitions, and their aspects (social, political, cultural, constitutional, etc.)
Neo-nationalism, and the new wave of national emancipation
Populism and post-socialist democracy including constitutional aspects
Language policy and language planning in post-soviet countries
Experiences of totalitarianism, socialism and post-socialism
Identity formation and state ideology
Historical memory and historical consciousness, etc.
