Information stands, interactive games, conversations with Student Ambassadors and even pizza – the start of the 2026/2027 academic year has brought plenty of opportunities to discover 4EU+.
Across the Alliance, Local Offices and Student Ambassadors have been meeting new and returning students on campus, introducing them to international learning opportunities, mobility options and ways to become part of the wider 4EU+ community.
“Great opportunities lie ahead of you – have the courage to use them.” With these words, Prof. Dr. Frauke Melchior, Rector of Ruperto Carola, welcomed newly enrolled students to Heidelberg University’s Welcome Day. Following the welcome, the new students explored an information fair featuring the various advisory and service organisations available at the university. The fair also offered students a chance to discover 4EU+, with the Heidelberg Local Office introducing them to the Alliance and its activities.

Welcoming new students to university was also an occasion to introduce them to 4EU+ at Paris-Panthéon-Assas University. During the Welcome Days for first-year students, the Alliance became part of their introduction to student life and engagement, giving them a chance to discover its international opportunities and ways to get involved from the very beginning of their university journey.
The Alliance was also presented during the university’s Mobility Days, placing 4EU+ opportunities within the wider range of international mobility options available to students.
The team at Sorbonne University’s 4EU+ Local Office had a busy start to the academic year too, taking part in student welcome days across several campuses. These events provided a chance to meet new students and introduce them to mobility opportunities and shared courses, strengthening the Alliance’s visibility on the ground. The booths also attracted many visits from colleagues.
At the University of Warsaw, the 4EU+ Local Office reached newly enrolled students through ten events across eight faculties, using different formats to introduce the Alliance. Students could stop by a 4EU+ information stand, attend a short presentation or meet representatives of the Alliance in person.
Alongside a general introduction to 4EU+, students discovered concrete opportunities, including Shared Courses and the upcoming Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme in Quantitative Biodiversity (QuBiD). The response showed that students are interested in discovering international opportunities and getting involved in activities offered by the Alliance.
"It was great to introduce new students to the 4EU+ Alliance and show them that international opportunities are within their reach. Many opportunities may seem distant or complicated at first, so I was happy to help make them more accessible and show students where to find information about our initiatives. Starting university is an exciting time, and I hope learning about 4EU+ encouraged them to explore new possibilities, connect with students from other universities and make the most of their time at UW!"

"I really enjoyed speaking with students and introducing them to the 4EU+ Alliance. It was great to see their interest in the opportunities the Alliance offers, from international collaboration to shared courses and student initiatives. I hope our conversations encouraged them to explore 4EU+ and take advantage of everything it has to offer!"
At Charles University, 4EU+ joined students at the opening of the academic year. Alongside introducing the Alliance and its opportunities, the 4EU+ Student Ambassadors brought an interactive element to the event through the 4EU+ Idea Wall, inviting students to reflect on ways to improve university life in Europe. Quizzes and games added another interactive way for students to discover 4EU+. During Erasmus Days, students could learn more about opportunities within 4EU+, while Erasmus students from Alliance universities took part in activities organised at Charles University.
“Taking part in the opening of the academic year at Kampus Hybernská as a Student Ambassador was a great experience. It was wonderful to see students from different backgrounds come together, and the interactive element helped everyone feel involved rather than just watching. I think it made the event more welcoming and gave students a chance to connect with each other and with the 4EU+ community!”
At the University of Geneva, discovering 4EU+ took a particularly playful turn. More than 150 students joined Play・Win・Claim at the 4EU+ Stands, exploring the Alliance through five themed stands and games. Along the way, students could win goodies while discovering mobility and learning opportunities, extracurricular activities and ways to get involved in 4EU+, supported by the enthusiasm and commitment of the 4EU+ Student Ambassadors.
The 4EU+ Pizza Night brought more than 80 students together for a friendly evening of discovery, conversation and, of course, pizza. In a relaxed setting, students could learn about opportunities ranging from online courses and joint programmes to mobility and student-led initiatives. Beyond discovering what 4EU+ can offer, students could also meet members of the 4EU+ Local Office and Student Ambassadors – some of the people who help make it happen.
From information stands and presentations to interactive games and informal gatherings, these activities show the many ways in which 4EU+ becomes visible and accessible to students on campus. We hope that those who discovered the Alliance at the start of this academic year will make use of its opportunities, get involved and become part of the 4EU+ community. We wish everyone across the Alliance an inspiring and successful academic year!
