Applications now open for key 4EU+ collaboration schemes

SEED4EU+ and Visiting Professorships introduce new early career and standard pathways

22 June 2026

Building on the success of previous editions, the 4EU+ Alliance is pleased to launch its main opportunities for collaboration and exchange for the academic year 2026–2027: SEED4EU+ and Visiting Professorships*.

  • SEED4EU+ supports joint research projects across member universities. With a strong focus on interdisciplinarity, the scheme helps develop sustainable collaborations by strengthening existing initiatives or fostering new ones with potential for future external funding.

  • Visiting Professorships aims to reinforce collaboration in both research and teaching across the Alliance. The programme supports short-term academic visits and offers academic staff a platform to share expertise, develop skills, and initiate or deepen international academic cooperation.

A key feature of this year's edition is the introduction of a two-line funding structure, designed to support researchers at different stages of their careers and broaden participation across the Alliance.

  • Early Career Line: for researchers between 2 and 10 years after PhD completion

  • Standard Line: for researchers more than 10 years after PhD completion

This structure enables more tailored opportunities while maintaining open access for the broader academic community.

SEED4EU+ and Visiting Professorships are funded through contributions from the member universities and the budget of the 4EU+ legal entity. Together, these two calls reflect the Alliance’s commitment and long-term vision to strengthen research collaboration, foster academic excellence, and build sustainable partnerships across its institutions, in line with the objectives of its 2025–2035 Strategy.

* Applicants are kindly requested to apply to only one of the funding calls.
