UNES explores postwar European identity through the lens of Central and Eastern European literature. Focusing on writers shaped by exile, dictatorship, and historical trauma, the project examines how the West has been imagined, challenged, and redefined in their works. It aims to deconstruct East/West binaries and foster a multi-perspective understanding of Europe’s cultural space.
Combining collaborative research, multilingual education, and student involvement across partner universities, UNES blends literary analysis with geopolitical reflection. Activities include joint seminars, a winter school, and an international workshop, with students contributing to scholarly discussions and publications. By integrating research and education, the project builds long-term collaboration and enhances academic dialogue across disciplines and borders.
