PEERS+ workshops: Perineal Trauma – Prevention Education, Evaluation Repair & Scanning

Discover practical insights into maternal perineal and pelvic floor trauma during childbirth at the PEERS+ Workshop.

  • 12-14 October 2023: workshop at Heidelberg University

  • 15-17 November 2023: workshop at the University of Milan


This hands-on experience will equip medical, midwifery, nursing, and physiotherapy students with practical skills to prevent, evaluate, and repair perineal trauma. Engage in trans-perineal scans, learn about pelvic floor exercises, and gain insights into birth mode counseling. With animal model surgical repairs, including Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries, this workshop promises transformative insights.


What to expect

  • Hands-on training for perineal trauma prevention, repair, and evaluation

  • Trans-perineal scans practice on simulators

  • Expert guidance on pelvic floor exercises and birth mode counseling

  • Animal model surgical repair experience, including Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries


Who can attend

The workshops are open to students of medical, midwifery, nursing, and physiotherapy at all levels, as well as to practicing midwives.

Only a limited number of students from the listed universities above will receive a 4EU+ short-term mobility stipend. Students from other universities and anyone else interested can apply to participate in the course at their own expenses.
