Visual literacy can be understood as the ability to "know how to look" at images and to deduce meanings from them. Thanks to the combination of the complementary teaching methods adopted, 4EU+ students had the chance to experience first-handthe artistic, curatorial and educational approaches to visual literacy. After the workshops in Milan and Prague, the final conference held in Warsaw on 12-13 June represented the chance for students to present and share their group work and portfolios starting from the tutorial attended throughout the year.

The second edition of the 4EU+ workshop on global environment and development MERGEDgate (formerly ENVIROGATE) took place in Chiavenna, Italian Alps, from 27 June to 30 June 2023. During the workshop, students learned how to tackle the challenges of global environment and development thanks to a set of learning activities that encouraged creativity and sharing from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The promotion of plurilingualism and linguistic diversity has always been a crucial goal of the European Union. In alignment with these objectives, the Charles University 4EU+ mini-grant along with support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, and the Czech National Agency, funded an innovative project focused on educating heritage language learners and pupils learning a second language.

On 2-5 July 2023 the highly anticipated Summer School "4EU+ Against Cancer" took place in the picturesque setting of Mariánské Lázně in the Czech Republic. Led by esteemed academics from Charles University, Masaryk University, Sorbonne University and the University Warsaw, this event brought together aspiring researchers and experts in the field of oncology.

We are delighted to announce the outcomes of the two significant initiatives, SEED4EU+ and 4EU+ Visiting Professorships. Both calls, launched to stimulate collaborative research and educational activities, and promote out-of-the box projects, received substantial response from academics and researchers across the 4EU+ member universities.

As of 1 July 2023, the 4EU+ Alliance is joined by the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, making it the 8th higher education institution on board of the Alliance building One Comprehensive Research-Intensive University.

The 4EU+ Prague Summer Scientific Symposium, held on 15-17 June 2023 in Karolinum, brought together researchers from several 4EU+ universities to discuss new concepts and approaches to target diabetes pandemic in urban areas.
