Hope between fantasy and reality (26 November)

The University of Copenhagen and the 4EU+ Alliance invite you to a seminar full of hope. Researchers from five European universities will talk about and discuss hope in different contexts such as health, climate and artificial intelligence. Attend this afternoon event on 26 November 2024 and learn how hope can function as a launch pad and driver of radical transformation in society.

16:00: Welcome and introduction of Theology of Hope – Hope in Theology

16:15: Four talks about hope between fantasy and reality

  • Hope and reconciliation as short-supply goods by Pavol Bargár, Charles University

    With the wars taking place in the world, hope and reconciliation seem to be in short supply. Hear how hope can be a process we must go through rather than an ideal or a final product.

  • Crisis of well-being and tides of change by Anne-Milla W. Kristensen, University of Copenhagen

    Does crisis offer a unique opportunity for a transformation in sustainable and more healthy lifestyles? This talk focuses on the hope for transformation and the barriers preventing it.

  • Different religions – one shared hope for the climate by Beate Bengard, University of Geneva

    Climate change is a global challenge affecting members of different religions. Can religious thinking raise hope for the climate and make people assume their ecological responsibility?

  • Interacting with AI in light of hope by Friederike Nüssel, Heidelberg University

    Hope can be the belief in endless possibilities even though reality seems limited. This talk explores how hope can relate to the perception and expectations of AI as well as other AI perspectives.
