4EU+ welcomes the Council Resolution on a joint European degree label

The 4EU+ Alliance warmly welcomed the recent announcement that the Council of the European Union had adopted two key documents negotiated under the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union.

  • A Council Recommendation on a European quality assurance and recognition system in higher education

  • A Council Resolution on a joint European degree label and the next steps towards a possible joint European degree

The 4EU+ Alliance has been actively engaged in the EuropeanDegree initiative from its very outset, particularly through active participation in one of the six pilot projects, ED-AFFICHE.

Our representatives — Laura Colò (4EU+ General Secretariat), Dr. Marta Jaworska-Oknińska (University of Warsaw) and Dr. Josef Matoušek (Charles University) — also had the opportunity to co-organise workshops for Member States at the invitation of the Polish Presidency, helping to build a shared understanding of key issues surrounding the European Degree.

Strongly committed to the development of joint programmes — with three already on 4EU+ offer — we believe that the European degree label (and ultimately the European degree) has the potential to contribute to the much-needed revitalisation of the Bologna process and the creation of truly European universities, in line with our mission and the shared vision of the European Commission and Member States.
