The 4EU+ European University Alliance is a transnational strategic association of Charles University in Prague, Heidelberg University, Paris-Panthéon-Assas University, Sorbonne University in Paris, the University of Copenhagen, the University of Geneva, the University of Milan, and the University of Warsaw.
The cooperation, originally called 4EU, was initiated in 2017 by Charles University in Prague, Heidelberg University, Sorbonne University in Paris and the University of Warsaw, and expanded in October 2018 under the name 4EU+ to include the universities of Copenhagen and Milan. The University of Geneva has been a member of the Alliance since August 2022 and Paris-Panthéon-Assas University joined in July 2023. The partnership grew out of the idea of a European university based on academic freedom and autonomy that wants to offer equal access to education.
The 4EU+ Alliance has one vision: to create One Comprehensive Research-Intensive European University. Together, we aim to build a truly integrated European university system that sets a new standard of cooperation in education, research, innovation, and outreach.
This vision captures the unique features of our Alliance: united by a share ambition, we are committed to consolidating resources and aligning decision-making processes across our institutions renowned for their outstanding research capacity and strong multi- and interdisciplinary profiles.
We strive to establish a university system founded on core values: academic freedom, accessible higher education for all, student-centred approach, diversity and inclusion, and service to society. We are European in identity. As such, it is at the core of our mission to rebalance talent flows, integrate ecosystems and, above all, equip the next generations of citizens to solve the global challenges of our times.

The 4EU+ Alliance's Strategy 2025-2035 charts the course towards building One Comprehensive Research-Intensive European University, outlining ambitions and actions across education, research, innovation, and outreach.
