The Geneva Science-Policy Interface (GSPI) is delighted to announce the opening of registration for the 2024 International Geneva Study Trip: Environmental Governance.
Co-organized with the Institute of Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva, this special edition invites the 4EU+ Flagship 4 community for an immersive experience of deep interactions and dialogues in the heart of international Geneva’s ecosystem of global environmental governance.
Dates: 8-10 October 2024 (3 days)
Throughout the programme, participants will:
Gain insights into international decision-making processes.
Expand networks for potential partnerships.
Engage with diverse disciplines.
Develop policy engagement competences.
Number of participants: Up to 2 researchers per 4EU+ member university (max. 16 total)
*The 4EU+ community will be joined by some researchers from other partner universities.
Two virtual pre-sessions in September: introduction to the science-policy interface and the Geneva ecosystem; meet-and-greet of cohort (online, 1.5 hours/session)
Day 0: Arrival & Welcome dinner
Day 1: Understanding multilateral policymaking and the mobilisation of science, discussion with UN representatives, and an optional United Nations tour.
Day 2: Exploration of science-policy engagement through intermediaries e.g. the UNEP-GRID or the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
Day 3: Exchanges with experienced researchers on practices of science-policy engagement
Virtual post-trip session: a follow-up meeting 6-month after the trip to see how participants have implemented their science-policy engagement plans
Faculty members of the 4EU+ member universities.
Applicants should consider themselves as Early, or Mid-Career Researchers (EMCRs). Doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Research topic(s) linked to environmental governance.
All Faculties and disciplines are welcome.
Travel, accommodation and onsite logistical expenses will be covered by the 4EU+ Alliance.
