How do I find accommodation?

Your host university will assist you in finding accommodation.

University of Copenhagen

You will automatically receive further information on accommodation at the end of June for your study period at UCPH.

Heidelberg University

Heidelberg University’s Erasmus Office will help you find an accommodation. You will receive information in due time directly from the Erasmus Office.

University of Milan

How can Non-EU students obtain a visa to study in Europe as part of an Erasmus Mundus Programme?

If you, as a Non-EU student, are offered admission to the programme, you must apply for a visa.

University of Copenhagen

UCPH will initiate your online visa application (ST1) to Denmark on your behalf once you are fully admitted to the programme. We will initiate visa applications for fully admitted students in late May. You will receive an email with instructions on how to fill out your part of the application. After you have received the email, you must continue your visa application on your own.

You must pay the processing fee for your visa yourself. UCPH cannot make any payments for your scholarship in advance to cover travel, visa fees, etc.

You will also receive information from your second year university in time for you to apply for a visa in the respective host country.

Instructions on the visa application procedures are available on the websites of the respective host countries.


Heidelberg University

International students from non-EU/EEA countries must apply either for a residence permit or for a visa according to their home country.


If you need a residence permit you must apply for one no later than 90 days after entry into Germany (for which countries a residence permit is necessary can be consulted in the link below). The application is submitted to the Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde).


A Visa may be necessary according to your home country (please consult the link below to see if your country is in the list). M3EP Students can apply for their Visa at the German embassy in Denmark.

University of Milan

Students must follow the rules regarding visa applications for the country in which they are starting the Erasmus Mundus Programme. In Italy, applications must be submitted by registering on the portal https://www.universitaly.it/.

When can I expect to receive my visa?


University of Copenhagen

The processing time of the visa applications to Denmark may be up to 2 months. Therefore, the sooner you fulfil all conditions in your offer of admission,, the sooner we can initiate your visa application. We strongly recommend that you complete your part of the visa application immediately after we have initiated it.




A delay in handing in the complete visa application could add approximately 8 weeks to the process.

Heidelberg University

The processing time of the visa applications to Germany takes approximately 3 months.


University of Milan

The average release time can vary. Please note that the final decision on the issue of a visa for study purposes is the exclusive jurisdiction of the diplomatic/consular mission and the university cannot intervene.

How long can students stay for job-seeking after graduating with a double-degree?

It depends on the country of destination

University of Copenhagen

Students admitted to a double degree will automatically receive a residence permit, including 3-year job-seeking period after graduation. It will not require a separate application.

University of Heidelberg

Students can stay in Germany for up to 18 months to seek a job after graduating, as long as they apply for a residence permit for job-seeking after passing their final exam at the Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde). This permit allows them to work to support themselves during their search for qualified employment.

University of Milan

Please be aware that the final decision lies solely with the diplomatic or consular authorities, and the university is not in a position to influence or intervene in the process.


Charles University

It depends on the type of legal stay you apply for (long-term visa or long-term residence permit). Information about access to the labor market is available at this link. Please check out this link for more information on renewals.
