The project team from Work Package 3 (WP3) "Sharing Research Infrastructure," part of the 4EU+ Alliance's TRAIN4EU+ project, has successfully published their research in the peer-reviewed journal Cogent Education. This collaborative work, led by Heidelberg University in partnership with the University of Milan, Charles University, Sorbonne University, University of Copenhagen, and the University of Warsaw, highlights the outcomes of a three-year effort to explore and enhance the use of research infrastructures and core facilities across European universities.
The article, titled Navigating the frontier: research infrastructures, core facilities and a new paradigm at European Universities, offers a comparative analysis of research infrastructures (RI) and core facilities (CF) at six European universities. It outlines the organisational structures, governance models, success factors, and challenges associated with implementing and operating these key research support structures. The publication provides a comprehensive resource for universities looking to strengthen their RI and CF strategies and further enhances the visibility of the 4EU+ Alliance's role in supporting research innovation.
On the successful publication, WP3 team coordinator Anne Jürgens remarked: “The publication of our research in the peer-reviewed journal Cogent Education marks a significant milestone for the TRAIN4EU+ project. It not only highlights the valuable contributions of our Work Package 3 team but also offers great visibility to the 4EU+ Alliance as a whole. The insights shared in this paper are a testament to the collaborative efforts across European universities and the pivotal role of research infrastructures in fostering innovation.”
