The FEED-ACT project pioneers an innovative, inclusive approach to English-medium instruction (EMI) by developing accessible, corpus-based tools to help students master specialized academic discourse in their fields. It brings together linguists from four 4EU+ partner institutions, one associate partner, and experts from the University of Warsaw’s Digital Competence Center and Office for Persons with Disabilities.
The project aims to address two key challenges in EMI: gaps in academic disciplinary language development and the lack of personalized learning experiences due to students’ linguistic, cultural, and cognitive diversity. To tackle these issues, a specialized language corpus will be compiled from five EMI subjects across partner institutions. This data will power Accessible Corpus-based Tools (ACT) – an inclusive, multimodal e-learning platform integrating text, sound, and images to support diverse learning styles. ACT’s impact and effectiveness will be evaluated through student trials and feedback, ensuring its relevance and accessibility in EMI.
